Robert Black

Chair BBus GAICD

Rob has three decades experience in stockbroking and ECM, primarily with Euroz Hartleys (Euroz), which he joined in 2002.

In 2014 Rob was appointed Managing Director of Euroz, having previously run the Institutional Sales Desk where he was responsible for servicing domestic and international institutions. In 2017 Rob was appointed to the Board of the listed parent company, Euroz Limited. In March 2022 Rob relinquished his role as Managing Director of Euroz following his appointment as Head of ECM syndication. He subsequently retired from Euroz in May 2023 after 21 years.

During Rob’s tenure as Managing Director of Euroz, he oversaw significant growth of the business, with the acquisition of Blackswan Equities in 2014, Entrust Private Wealth Management in 2015, and the merger with Hartleys Limited in 2020. Rob was instrumental in supporting and driving the growth strategy of Euroz and advised on, and led, numerous transactions raising significant capital for Euroz’s clients.

Rob holds a Bachelor of Business (majors in Finance and Accounting) and is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Rob is a member of the Remuneration & Nominations Committee and a member of the Audit Committee and the Risk, Governance & Sustainability Committee. Effective 1 July 2024, Rob will assume the role of Chair of the Board.

Susan Jones

Non-Executive Director B Law (Hons), GAICD

Appointed as a director on 20 September 2024.

Susan Jones is an experienced executive with over 25 years’ experience in the energy sector gained in Australia, USA, UK and northern Africa in legal and non-legal roles.

She is a lawyer by training but has undertaken a wide variety of roles including legal, commercial, asset management, sustainability, risk and governance.

Her most recent role was Executive Vice President Legal & ESG and Joint Company Secretary at Beach Energy. Reporting to the CEO/MD, she was responsible for risk, sustainability, legal, corporate & government affairs, internal audit and ESG.

Previous employers include Total, Woodside, BHP and Ophir. In addition to her in-house experience, Ms Jones has worked at Sidleys (New York) and King Wood Mallesons (Australia).

Ms Jones is originally from South Australia and holds a first class honours LLB. In addition to being admitted to practice law in Australia she is admitted to practice law in New York.

Russell Delroy

Non-Executive Director 

Mr Delroy is Founder and Portfolio Manager of Nero. His Nero Resource Fund has delivered sector leading returns of ~25% p.a. (+981% absolute return) since its inception in 2013. With over 20 years’ experience in funds management, corporate finance and executive management.

Mr Delroy has a proven track record in unlocking shareholder value through active company engagement. Examples include Capricorn Metals (2019 Board renewal), Warrego Energy (acquired 2023) and Talon Energy (acquired 2023).

Russell is Chair of the Audit Committee.

Will Barker

Non-Executive Director 

Will is a geologist with more than 20 years’ experience in exploration and development of large-scale resource projects in Australia and internationally. He is founder and Executive Director of Western Gas, the developer of the proposed Equus Gas Project in Western Australia.

Will was previously General Manager LNG at Arrow Energy before Shell and PetroChina completed a takeover of Arrow for A$3.5 billion.

Will is Chair of the Risk, Governance & Sustainability Committee and the Remuneration & Nominations Committee.

Philip Huizenga

Chief Executive Officer  

Philip joined Carnarvon in early 2007 as Principal Petroleum Engineer but was promoted to Chief Operating Officer.  He has an extensive engineering background with nearly 20 years in the oil and gas industry encompassing many years of rig exposure on offshore and remote locations and several years reservoir engineering experience.

Philip has worked internationally in Asia and the Americas in a number of engineering and management roles, is a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers and sits on the Industry Advisory Council to the Department of Petroleum Engineering at Curtin University.

Alex Doering

Chief Financial Officer and Company Secretary  

Alex is a finance executive responsible for the overall financial management of the Carnarvon business, with approximately 12 years of commercial and financial experience. Alex is a Chartered Accountant and an associate of the Governance Institute of Australia with experience in taxation, financial reporting, governance, raising capital and commercial transactions.

Alex jointly performs the Company Secretary role in which he manages Carnarvon’s corporate governance framework and regulatory compliance.
